I woke up this morning
With an aching in my heart to be at home
It's so hot here
The desert sun can melt you to the ground
Across the fields,
The snow is blowing in the land where I was raised.
I never thought that I would miss
The frigid winters of my yesterdays
They say the winter
Is the only time we have to do this job
I can't imagine what a summer would be like here
If this is winter
Then I want to finish up before the spring
But no one asked me
Winter
Fallow fields and snowball fights
Winter
Huddled 'round the fire
Winter
Indoor pools and outdoor rinks
Winter
Christmas presents and eggnog.
And you.
(I wanna go home)
I made a promise to my family
To my God and country too
I will not rest
until I fulfill the oath I took so long ago
But it's hard out in the desert
I wish that I was back in winter cold.
And snow and icy rain.
Winter
Fallow fields and snowball fights
Winter
Huddled 'round the fire
Winter
Indoor pools and outdoor rinks
Winter
Christmas presents and eggnog.
And you.
This song is about a guy stationed out in the desert, thinking of how nice it would be to experience cold again.
